Pre-K
We welcome children ages 3 to 5 years old. We “follow the child” and let our nursery school students explore in a safe and loving environment and ensure they are safe and held when needed. There are beautiful Montessori materials for nursery school students to explore with appropriate shelving to develop fine-motor skills. There are continued opportunities for friendships and real collaboration and organized and beautiful materials in sequence for the Primary Montessori curriculum: sensorial, math, language, science and practical life. We offer a unique ratio to allow for a consistent and individualized experience for your child.
Children during this period in their lives are really getting a deeper understanding of order, independence, language, and movement. They do not want this disrupted and expect that they come each and every day to school with a consistent environment. We provide an environment for your child to continue caring for himself and really begin to collaborate with their friends and a sense of social justice. You will see at this age they help their younger friends put on their coats, shoes, have responsibilities to clean, and are eager to learn more challenging lessons. They gain practical skills for independence and leadership, refine their fine and gross motor skills, begin to develop stronger social skills, and will be reading at a 1st-grade level, writing detailed stories with an abundance of vocabulary and performing more complicated mathematical operations such as division, fractions and more. We provide a daily routine that is consistent so your child can trust their environment and know what they can expect each and every day. But more importantly, the children begin to organize group meetings and provide feedback on what is right and wrong. We have materials that are organized in a certain order so that your child can continue to progress academically and socially. Some of the many beautiful lessons your child will experience are learning how to write stories in both print and cursive, begin reading chapter books, do multiplication into the thousands, fraction insets, and skip counting to a thousand, help others trace their letters, writing their first and last name as well as members of their family and community, put continent puzzles together and trace and create their own maps, learn the names of continents, countries, capitals, explore a microscope and parts of a microscope, human anatomy, introduction to molecules, and design and create their own science experiments, paint and draw learning shading, the color wheel, embroider, and much much more. Come visit us and be ready to be amazed by this incredible setting your child can be a part of. You have to see it believe it and we will provide you with all that you need so that you can continue providing this kind of learning at home.
